When you think of classy and extravagant cars, one brand name which immediately pops into mind is Ferrari. Everything about Ferrari cars is great, unique and recognizable. For many decades Ferrari has been one of the top motor car brands, in fact it has also been named the most iconic brand in 2013. Needless to say, the company is getting better and brings improvements to each of their subsequent models, but each model that came out was always ahead of other cars of its time. 1957 Ferrari 250 GT California

Going back in time, let us take a look at the classic 1957 Ferrari 250 GT California. Ferrari 250 series was a major hit back then and we have 3 cars from that series in our list. Basically this specific ferrari model was made when the Ferrari US distributor convinced the company to manufacture this high performance car. The thing which created high demand was its limited availability. It could do 140 mph and its design was especially cool- with covered upright headlights.

Next up is another classic model of Ferrari i.e. 1960 Ferrari 250 SWB California Spyder. It is a wonderful Ferrari that was put up for auction in January 2009 by Gooding and Company. The Ferrari was in trademark red color and was expected to sell for few million dollars. This particular model had a 2953 cc V 12 engine that was able to generate 280 hp horsepower. The thing which made this 1960 model stand out was its nimble drive and user friendly interior. The most recent auction that sold this Ferrari model was in 2008 and it was sold for $6.6 million.

1963 Ferrari 250 GTO

On number three is 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO. The 1961 Ferrari, like its predecessors was essentially a sports car, developed to provide people with comfort of a sedan along with thrill and excitement of a sports car. 250 GT chassis provided the bases for GTO. What really made this car stand out was its improved V 12 engine; with lighter materials, larger valves and tighter clearances. The car interior was not as cozy as you would expect from a Ferrari. It had no heaters and sound deadeners. This Ferrari Model is the most famous as it was sold for about $11 million dollars in an auction and set the world record in 2008.

Its fuel tank had capacity to hold 31.7 gallon fuel. 1985 Ferraris engine had the capability to produce 400 bhp at 7000 rpm. It could also produce 366 lb-ft. torque. It had 5 speed manual transmission and a great suspension system. Interior of the car was also elegant. Black leather seats and non reflective material covering the dashboard made for an extremely relaxing travelling experience.

One of the best Ferrari of its time is 1987 Ferrari F40. It had a V 8 engine capable of producing 478 bhp. It could also produce a torque of 426 lb-ft. The shape of 1987 Ferrari was especially developed to reduce drag, lift and frontal area. This Ferrari is special because it was the first road legal production car that could exceed 200mph.
